Overview
This 6-hour virtual training equips early childhood educators with the knowledge and skills to support children experiencing emotional dysregulation. Participants will explore the neuroscience of stress and co-regulation, recognize signs of dysregulation, and learn trauma-informed strategies to help children regain emotional balance. Through interactive sessions, educators will practice co-regulation techniques, build emotionally safe classroom environments, and develop individualized support plans to foster resilience, self-regulation, and positive peer relationships.
Objective
1. Define emotional dysregulation and identify common triggers in early childhood.
2. Describe the neuroscience behind co-regulation and its role in child development.
3. Recognize signs of stress and dysregulation in young children.
4. Understand the adult’s role in co-regulation and the importance of self-regulation.
5. Apply trauma-informed, co-regulation strategies in real-time situations.
6. Develop individualized classroom support plans for children experiencing frequent dysregulation.
