Overview
Intentional teaching involves continuously thinking about what you are doing as a teacher and how it will support or enable children’s development and learning. It requires an awareness of and being deliberate, thoughtful and purposeful in your teaching practices- whether during play, teacher planned activities, or just spontaneous responses to children’s emerging inquiries. We will explore easy strategies, brainstorm and try out ways to enhance your interactions with children throughout the day!
Objective
  • Understand what makes teaching intentional in practices.
  • Observe, listen, interact with children to determine learning.
  • Plan intentional and purposeful teaching interactions.
  • Utilize understandings of each child's interests, family and home life to support desired learning.
