Overview
Difficult conversations with families can be one of the most stressful aspects of the work. In this Community of Practice, we will explore strategies for preventing and addressing challenges with families by supporting communication. We will address topics that include effective policy creation and communication of program policies, ways to discuss sensitive information, and creating a climate of engagement and collaboration.
Objective
  • Recognize the importance of building/repairing relationships with families.
  • Identify ways to build/rebuild trust with families.
  • Discuss the elements of effective communication.
  • Consider challenges to communication and utilize conflict resolution skills.
Additional Information

Participants are expected to attend all sessions of an event in order to receive credit for attending. Participants will be marked as “completed” in the LMS if they attend no less than 85% of the total sessions for the event (see table below) and complete all necessary coursework.
