This can happen when a course is left open and inactive for an extended amount of time. The StrongStart LMS is a learning and testing environment and will time out with inactivity.
If you need to take a break from a course for more than a few minutes, exit the course, and log out of StrongStart. When you're ready to continue, sign into StrongStart and resume the training.
